Each competency will be evaluated every term.
Competency 1: To produce individual works in the Visual Arts
-to use personal ideas inspired by the stimulus for creation
-to share his/her creative experience
-to use transforming gestures and elements of visual arts language
-to organize the elements he/she has chosen
To finalize his/her production
Competency 2: To produce Media works in the Visual Arts
-to use transforming gestures and elements of visual arts language according to the message and the intended viewer
To intended viewer finalize his/her media creation
-to share his/her experience of media creation
-to use creative ideas inspired by a stimulus for creation of media works
-to organize the elements that he/she has chosen, depending on the message and the intended viewer
Competency 3: to appreciate works of art, traditional artistic objects, media images, personal productions and those of classmates
-to examine a work of art, traditional artistic object, media images, personal or media visual arts production for elements of content

-to make a critical or aesthetic judgment

Report Card weighting
Classroom procedures & expectations
Students are expected to come to class prepared each week. This means that they will bring their kit boxes equipped with pencils, glue stick, eraser, scissors & pencils crayons.
Students will rotate class jobs throughout the course of the year in order to demonstrate responsibility and take ownership within the classroom.
Each week we will explore:
-a word of the week (a word that is the cornerstone of the project we are working on)
-artirst inspiration (an artist whose work we will examine and potentially use as inspiration for our work)
Students will have the opportunity to earn free choice as result of good behaviour in class. Free choice allows students to experiment with materials and/ technologies used within previous weeks. Free choice represents an opportunity to create.
Students will have the opportunity to blog in a password protected classroom community using Kidblog.
Students will bring home projects at the end of term.
